The final leg of our journey back to Par, where we started at the beginning of the week. We left Mevagissey looking far more attractive in the morning sunshine than when we arrived a couple of days previously ...

It was a relatively quick 2mile walk to Pentewan where we had agreed to meet Fiona for morning coffee giving DavidA a chance to decide whether to risk his knee for the rest of the walk. We had a very pleasant drink in the very attractive square at Pentewan which looked and felt rather like a continental village in the sunshine.
DavidA had now decided to spend the day with Fiona on a visit to the NT Llanhydrock House leaving DavidL and Justine to complete the walk. Before leaving Pentewan we all went to the public loo in the centre of the village - one of the complicated 20p modern loos
with buttons inside (red to lock and green to open) which are most disconcerting because the door locks with a final thud and the light comes on leaving the user hoping that there is not a technical fault when leaving as the walls are thick and soundproofed.
Being thrifty we held the door open for each of us to use and we offered to do the same when a fellow female walker approached. We thought she was going to have a panic attack as she was most fearful of being shut inside to the extent that Fiona had to hold the door for her and stood guard until she emerged.
Leaving the village by a track called the Terrace there was a row of very old terrace properties, previously a nunnery but now holiday lets, attached to a very attractive church ...

The walk was quite tough, particularly in respect of the number of up and down steps which would have not been much fun for DavidA as shown in the 170steps down ...

... which was followed by 90 steps up. At Charlestown we were expecting a major diversion according to the SWCP diversions web page but it looked like locals had taken matters into their own hands and bridged the gaps in the hedge with an old trampoline frame and other improvised metal panelling.
Charlestown was a very attractive harbour and we stopped briefly for a very late bite to eat ...

Finally arriving in Par we met DavidA and Fiona in the car park where the week had started and retired to the Ship Inn which had a large outside seating area serviced by an outside bar.
Justine was thinking about dashing home on Friday night to go to the ManU match at 1230 Saturday morning as it was not now going to be shown on TV but the worsening fuel crisis put her off. Back at the cottage we had our final meal and the DavidA and Justine left early on Saturday morning to go to the Park Run at Llanhydrock on the way home.
All in all another very successful and enjoyable week of walking, chatting and laughter.
