This was always planned as a spare day that could be used to catch up in case the weather had prevented us completing a walk earlier in the week, which in fact had happened when we walked from Lyme Regis to West Bay but had to stop at Seatown. This of course is one of the great advantages of renting a house for the week and having a 'FIONA' as logistics manager and driver. When walking from booked B&B to B&B there is no choice but to move on and possibly return at a later date to complete the walk.
The day started later than usual as Justine had arranged to teach a pilates ZOOM class at 09:30.
Good news - the sun was shining again and it was forecast to stay sunny all day as we drove to West Bay and the 3 intrepid walkers made ready for the final push ...

Fiona took some good pictures of the breaking waves being whipped up by the stiff breeze ...

... and then spotted the 3 walkers starting the ascent of the West Cliff on their way to Seaton (peer closely to see them!) ...

After West Cliff the walk descended back to the beach at Eype and then climbed steeply up to Doghouse Hill giving good views down to Eype and back along the coast towards Chesil Beach.

Descending towards Seatown we saw a sight that none of us had seen before namely cows preening themselves. Firstly there were two cows head to head licking each others heads and then a single cow lying down licking its front legs.
The 3 miles to Seatown only took us 1.25 hours and as we had arranged to meet Fiona for a light lunch at the Anchor Inn Justine and DavidL decided they had time to scamper up to the summit of the Golden Cap and back to record the views that we should have seen earlier in the week. Firstly looking back to Seatown and beyond from the top ...

... and then gathering the proof that we made it ...

We had a good chat with a young couple from Cambridge who were also staying in Chideock to celebrate what we think was her 30th birthday and walking the area whilst here. It was also apparent that todays fine weather had enticed a whole variety people, young and old, to climb up to the Golden Cap, many seemingly having started at a NT car park off the A35 which DavidL remembered as being where he and Fiona had parked many many years ago.
Getting back to Seaton within the hour to meet DavidA and Fiona there was a long socially distanced queue just to get to the entrance of the Anchor Inn so we decided to go to the George Inn in Chideock where we were able to sit outside and enjoy what I reckon was the best Ploughmans I have ever had.
Finally, to end an enjoyable and satisfying week we all went in the evening to the Clock Inn in Chideock for a meal and then left the next morning back to Bristol.
