9/9 to 16/9/2023 Bude to Padstow (41.6mls)

Updated: Oct 5, 2023

The original plan for the week was to complete the North Cornwall route from Bude to Padstow and then to drive over to Swanage to complete our SWCP walk to South Haven Point. However we had to change our plans after the initial walk on Sunday because David L was very ill with Gastritis which it was thought he contracted from helping out a sick neighbour just before leaving on Saturday. We were based in the village of Davidstow at a property called Trevinny on a very quiet development of holiday lodges.

Fiona was again Logistics Manager/Driver and had a more difficult week this time as there were not many convenient places to spend time during the day whilst we were walking, although she had arranged to meet an old nursing friend on Tuesday at Pencarrow House and Gardens.

David A was happy to do the first days walk from Bude to Crackington Haven after the obligatory group photo ...

The modified walking plan for the 5 days was as shown below. Monday was a lost day due to David L suffering from Gastritis and, while Justine went off to walk some of the paths that she had not done south of Padstow, David A walked locally to visit a couple of aircraft museums.

On Tuesday as David L was feeling a little less delicate, and whilst Fiona spent the day with her friend, the 3 walkers went to Tintagel to walk across the new bridge and visit the castle although the more interesting visit was to the National Trust Old Post Office within Tintagel village. Disappointingly, Tintagel was very touristy.

Each of the above walks are described in individual blog pages.
