Miraculously the weather forecast changed overnight such that we were now being 'promised' a dry day as opposed to the previous day's forecast of 70% chance of heavy rain all day.

We were able to park just above the harbour at Polruan from where Justine and I (DavidA with his hip problem not fancying the multiple steps up and down from the Obelisk to Polperro!) set off with views across to Fowey ...

Soon after the gentle walk starts along the headland from the school at Polruan there is a confusing coast path sign indicating straight on but which leads into a very thorny gorse bush! The correct path goes right slightly down hill and from there it was a fine coastal walk to Pencarrow Head with views over the attractive Lantic Bay ...

On the way to the Obelisk and overlooking Lantivet Bay we came across a group of the resident very calm wild ponies, one of which was reluctant to move off the path ...

From the Obelisk it was a succession of steps up and down ...

We did dispute the numbers quoted in the SWCP leaflet but all went well and, ahead of schedule, we descended into Polperro where it was planned that we met with Fiona and DavidA. Unfortunately, Fiona was not able to get close enough to the harbour to enable her to walk down to meet us. We were surprised that there were no Blue Badge slots closer to the harbour but noticed that there were several people on mobility scooters and wonder if these are available for hire from the main public car park at the top of the hill?

With DavidA now walking the 5miles with us back to Looe we left the attractive Polperro harbour ...

Quite a climb out of Polperro but w soon rounded he corner to Talland Bay which, on reflection, would have been a better place to meet Fiona and DavisA as Fiona could have sat outside the cafe on the sea front.

No issues pushing on to West Looe where Fiona had just arrived in Marine Drive. Whilst Justine and me completed the last few hundred yards to the finish, DavidA went off with Fiona to find a place to park and a pub for a drink. And so it was we all ended up in the Jolly Roger pub singing the first few lines of "The sun is out, the sky is blue, there's not a cloud to spoil the view..." in celebration of a very enjoyable dry day.
